A complete location record helps customers understand where a business operates, when it is open, how to get there, and what to expect on arrival. It can also distinguish branches that have different hours, contact details, access arrangements, or services.
This guide explains how to manage public locations at Profile → Locations.
A location is public when you save it. The current editor does not provide a draft or private-address switch. Do not enter a home, mailing, staff, storage, or other address that should not appear publicly.
1. Decide whether to add a physical location
Use the Locations editor for a real place that customers or clients may need to identify, visit, contact, or get directions to, such as:
- a store, office, studio, clinic, restaurant, or workshop;
- a customer-facing branch;
- a verified venue where the business regularly operates; or
- another physical business place that the owner is authorized to publish.
Do not use it for a temporary worksite, customer's address, employee's home, private storage facility, virtual office you are not entitled to represent as a business location, or an address added only to appear in another city.
If the business serves a region but does not receive customers at its address, publish its service area through the appropriate business information instead. Do not publish a private residence merely to create a map marker.
2. Open the Locations editor
- Sign in to Openleet.
- Select the business you want to manage.
- Open Profile.
- Choose Locations.
- Select Add location, or choose an existing location from the list.
The current basic stage supports one location. PRO and ADVANCED stages can add multiple branches.
3. Name the location clearly
The location name is required and must contain between 2 and 80 characters. Use a name that helps customers distinguish the place, such as:
- Downtown Squamish
- North Vancouver Studio
- Main Street Clinic
- Park Royal Kiosk
Avoid repeating only the business name when there are several branches. Do not add unnecessary keywords or neighbourhood names that do not accurately describe the location.
4. Choose the primary location
Enable Primary location for the main branch that should represent the business first. Only one location should be primary.
The primary location may be used as the main address or first location shown on public business surfaces. Choose the branch that best represents the business—not automatically the newest or largest address.
If you need to delete a primary location, first make another saved location primary. Openleet prevents deletion of the only location and prevents deletion of the primary location until another one is selected.
5. Add a useful short description
The optional description accepts up to 700 characters. Explain what is distinct or useful about this branch rather than repeating the general business description.
Helpful details can include:
- where the entrance is located;
- whether the branch offers a specific service;
- whether an appointment is required;
- a landmark that makes the location easier to find;
- pickup or visitor instructions; and
- a brief note about the setting or customer experience.
Keep parking, accessibility, and transit details in their dedicated fields so customers can find them quickly.
6. Select the address from Google suggestions
A location requires a Google Place selection. Start typing the business name or address, then choose the correct result from the dropdown. Openleet uses that selection to confirm details such as:
- the formatted street address;
- city, province, country, and postal code;
- latitude and longitude;
- Google Place ID; and
- map and directions links.
Do not type an address and leave without choosing a suggestion. The editor needs the selected Place ID before it can save the location.
Review the selected address and map marker carefully. If Google shows the wrong unit, entrance, postal code, or map position, correct the source listing where appropriate rather than knowingly publishing inaccurate information.
Google verification confirms the selected place data; it does not prove ownership, licensing, occupancy, or a right to represent the location. Publish only addresses the business is authorized to use.
7. Keep the public URL stable
Openleet generates the location URL from its name and keeps it stable after the location is saved. You can enable Edit URL to choose a custom ending made from lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens, up to 50 characters.
Choose a short, descriptive value such as downtown-squamish or north-vancouver-studio.
Avoid changing the URL after publication. Old links, bookmarks, search records, and external references may stop working if the location address changes without a redirect.
8. Save before uploading a location photo
The location must be saved before an image can be uploaded. The image can appear as the hero image on the public location page.
Choose a current photo that helps a visitor recognize the place, such as:
- the storefront and public entrance;
- reception or customer area;
- an exterior view showing useful landmarks; or
- an accessible entrance when that helps visitors arrive confidently.
Use an image you own or are authorized to publish. Avoid faces without consent, visible licence plates, security controls, private work areas, customer information, computer screens, or documents.
Add concise alt text that describes what the image shows, for example Street entrance of the Downtown Squamish studio. Alt text can contain up to 160 characters. It should describe the image for accessibility, not list promotional keywords.
9. Add branch-specific contact details
Use the location phone and email only when they differ from, or clarify, the main business contact record. For example, separate branches may have their own reception numbers or appointment inboxes.
Use a public business number in a clear international format where practical, such as +1 604 555 0123 as a formatting example only. Replace it with the branch's real public number. Confirm that the email is valid and monitored.
Do not add a staff member's personal contact details without clear permission. If every branch uses the same contact channel, keep the information consistent with Profile → Contact.
10. Add price range, languages, and payment methods
The optional Price range field accepts up to eight characters. Use a simple relative indicator such as $, $$, or $$$ only if it reasonably describes this location. Do not treat the symbol as a substitute for actual pricing where customers need exact information.
Enter languages and payment methods as comma-separated lists. For example:
- Languages:
English, Farsi - Payment methods:
Credit card, Debit, Cash
List only languages customers can actually use at that location and payment methods currently accepted there. Avoid publishing sensitive details about individual staff members.
11. Set the correct timezone
The timezone controls how opening hours are interpreted. Use a recognized timezone name such as America/Vancouver for Squamish and North Vancouver.
Do not use a temporary UTC offset such as UTC-7, because daylight-saving changes can make it inaccurate. Verify the timezone when adding branches in another region.
12. Explain parking, accessibility, and transit
Each of these optional fields accepts up to 280 characters. Use factual, practical language.
For parking, explain whether there is onsite, street, paid, time-limited, or accessible parking. For transit, identify a nearby stop, route, station, or walking direction that is likely to remain useful.
For accessibility, describe specific features rather than making an unsupported general claim. Examples include:
- step-free entrance from the east side;
- automatic front door;
- elevator access to the second floor;
- accessible washroom available; or
- two designated accessible parking spaces near the entrance.
Accessibility needs vary. When uncertain, state what is physically available and provide a contact method for questions rather than claiming that a location is fully accessible.
13. Add weekly opening hours
Enable Show hours on profile when you want this location's weekly schedule to be public. Enter opening and closing times in 24-hour HH:MM format, such as 09:00 and 17:00.
Mark days when the location is not open as Closed. Closed days are not saved as open-hour rows. Use Copy Monday to all only when the same schedule genuinely applies to the other days, then review every row before saving.
Opening hours should describe when customers can normally use or contact that location. Do not list staff working hours if the location is not open to customers. If access is by appointment only, explain that clearly in the description or related customer information rather than showing misleading unrestricted hours.
Special holidays, seasonal schedules, temporary closures, and one-off events may require separate updates. Review the public result whenever operating hours change.
14. Save and inspect the public location
Select Save location after the required name and Google Place have been chosen. Then upload the photo if desired and inspect the public profile, website location page, map, directions, contact actions, and hours.
Where location information can appear
Saved locations can appear on the Openleet business profile, its locations section, and eligible tenant website pages such as the homepage and contact page. A location may also have its own public page with its address, map, directions, hours, image, and branch details.
Location facts can contribute to public structured business data and machine-readable resources. This helps visitors and software interpret the address supplied by the business, but it does not guarantee search placement, ranking, verification, or use by an AI service.
Because saved locations are public, external search engines, map providers, archives, and other services may retain older address information after it is changed or removed from Openleet.
Maintain multiple branches separately
PRO and ADVANCED businesses can create multiple location records. Give each branch its own accurate details rather than copying one location and leaving information that does not apply.
Review branch-specific differences in:
- phone and email;
- weekly hours and timezone;
- services or appointment instructions;
- languages and payment methods;
- parking, accessibility, and transit;
- location image; and
- public URL.
When a branch closes, first confirm which location should become primary if necessary. Then remove the closed location and update related contact, booking, menu, article, and external listing references. Deleting a location cannot be undone from the editor.
Review locations regularly
Check location information whenever the business moves, changes entrances, adjusts hours, adds a branch, closes a branch, changes its phone system, or updates accessibility arrangements.
An accurate location record should answer four practical questions: Where is it? When can I go? How do I get there? What should I expect when I arrive?
