A business FAQ gives customers direct answers to recurring questions about services, pricing, booking, locations, policies, availability, and how the business works. It can reduce uncertainty before someone calls, visits, or sends a message.

This guide explains how to add and maintain business-wide questions at Profile → Business FAQ.

An FAQ answer is a public statement from your business. Include only information you can confirm, and update the answer whenever a policy, price, service, or process changes.

1. Decide what belongs in the business FAQ

Use the business FAQ for questions that apply broadly to the business. Examples include:

  • Which areas do you serve?
  • Do customers need an appointment?
  • How can someone request an estimate?
  • What payment methods do you accept?
  • Is parking available at your location?
  • What is your cancellation policy?
  • Do you provide accessible service options?
  • How should customers prepare before a visit?

Questions about one specific product, service, or article usually belong with that content instead. Keeping business-wide and item-specific questions separate prevents repetition and makes answers easier to maintain.

2. Open the Business FAQ editor

  1. Sign in to Openleet.
  2. Select the business you want to manage.
  3. Open Profile.
  4. Choose Business FAQ.
  5. Select Add question, or edit an existing question and answer.

The editor supports up to 25 questions at one time. A smaller set of accurate, useful questions is generally easier for customers to browse than a long list of minor variations.

3. Write a clear question

Write the question in the language a customer would naturally use. Each saved question must contain at least 10 characters.

Good questions are:

  • specific enough to have a useful answer;
  • relevant to actual customers;
  • different from questions already in the list; and
  • stable enough to maintain over time.

Avoid vague prompts such as Why are you the best? or several versions of the same question. An FAQ should answer uncertainty rather than imitate advertising copy.

4. Write a complete, factual answer

Each saved answer must contain at least 20 characters and can contain up to 2,000 characters. Answer the question directly in the first sentence, then add only the context a customer needs.

For a useful answer:

  • state current facts rather than broad promises;
  • identify conditions, exceptions, or service-area limits;
  • explain the next step when the customer must contact you;
  • include dates when information is temporary;
  • avoid quoting a price when it cannot be applied consistently; and
  • do not include private staff, customer, account, or security information.

If the answer depends on an individual situation, explain the general rule and invite the customer to contact the business for confirmation.

5. Use AI question suggestions responsibly

Select Suggest with AI to request possible questions related to the business. Openleet can suggest up to eight new questions at a time, depending on the available space in the 25-question editor limit.

Suggestions are based on public business context such as the business name, description, category, location, identity details, existing questions, and recently published products, services, menu items, events, or articles. Existing and currently typed questions are included to reduce duplicates.

The suggestions are grouped into practical themes such as services, pricing, booking, location, policies, and general information.

The AI suggests questions only. It does not write or verify the answers. Review the question, select Use question only when it is relevant, and write the answer from your own confirmed business information.

Do not turn a suggested question into a policy or service your business does not offer. Dismiss irrelevant suggestions, and do not enter confidential information to improve a suggestion.

6. Understand what is saved

Only complete question-and-answer pairs are saved.

  • A new row without a question of at least 10 characters and an answer of at least 20 characters remains an unsaved draft in the current editor view.
  • An AI-suggested question is not saved until you add a complete answer and select Save FAQ.
  • An existing saved FAQ cannot be left incomplete. Complete it or remove the row before saving.

This behavior prevents unanswered suggested questions from becoming public content.

7. Set the order

Use Order to control the sequence. Lower numbers appear first.

Put the most common and decision-critical questions near the beginning, such as service area, how to book, eligibility, pricing approach, or required preparation. Group related questions together by assigning nearby order numbers.

Avoid giving several items the same order when a specific sequence matters.

8. Set the language

Use a short language code that matches the question and answer, such as:

  • en for English;
  • fr for French; or
  • en-CA for Canadian English when that distinction is useful.

The code must contain between two and five characters. A tenant website's dedicated FAQ page selects active questions for the requested language, so the code should match the language route you expect visitors to use.

Do not mark an untranslated answer as another language. Create a separate, properly translated question-and-answer pair instead.

9. Use the Active control

New questions are Active by default. Turn Active off when you want to retain an answer in the editor but do not currently intend to present it as active FAQ content.

Use the switch when:

  • an answer is temporarily outdated;
  • a seasonal policy is not currently applicable;
  • a service has been paused; or
  • a translated answer needs review.

If no active FAQs remain, Openleet disables the FAQ website-menu service. After changing active states, inspect the business profile, website homepage, contact page, machine-readable resources, and dedicated FAQ page that apply to your business.

10. Save and review the results

Select Save FAQ after making changes. The button is available when the editor has unsaved changes.

    Where active FAQs can appear

    Active business FAQs can be used on the Openleet business profile and in its machine-readable business information. An eligible Openleet website can also show an FAQ preview on the homepage, selected questions on the contact page, and a searchable dedicated FAQ page.

    To make the dedicated page easy to reach, open Website → Navbar and activate the FAQ navigation item when at least one relevant active FAQ is available.

    Openleet can represent visible questions and answers as FAQ structured data. This helps software understand the page's content, but it does not guarantee a special search display, ranking, traffic, or use by an AI service.

    Update, deactivate, or remove a question

    Return to Profile → Business FAQ whenever the business information changes.

    • Edit the answer when the policy or process changes.
    • Turn off Active when an answer is temporarily not applicable.
    • Use the × control to remove a question you no longer want to retain.
    • Review language-specific questions after updating the original language.

    FAQ saving replaces the business's saved list with the completed entries currently submitted from the editor. Review the full list before saving after removing or reorganizing several questions.

    Review FAQs on a schedule

    Questions about hours, pricing, booking, service areas, availability, and policies can become outdated quickly. Review those entries whenever the underlying information changes and include them in a regular profile review.

    A useful FAQ is not the one with the most questions. It is the one that gives customers reliable answers with the least confusion.
