Testimonials can help visitors understand real customer experiences with your business. Openleet lets you record feedback received directly from a customer or originally published on another platform, while keeping the source and publication status clear.

This guide explains how to add a testimonial responsibly, store private supporting proof, and control how published testimonials appear.

Only publish feedback you are allowed to use. Do not invent testimonials, change a customer's meaning, or disclose personal information without permission.

1. Open the testimonials area

  1. Sign in to Openleet.
  2. Select the business you want to manage.
  3. Open Content.
  4. Choose Testimonials.
  5. Select Add testimonial, or choose Edit on an existing item.

The testimonial library also lets you search entries and filter them by status or source.

2. Enter the customer's words accurately

The testimonial text is required and must contain at least 10 characters. Enter the customer's words as accurately as possible.

You may add a short optional title to summarize the main experience. The title should not exaggerate what the customer said.

When shortening a long testimonial:

  • preserve its original meaning and tone;
  • do not combine statements from different customers;
  • do not add claims the customer did not make; and
  • use an ellipsis only when omitted text does not change the meaning.

3. Add only authorized customer information

Customer details are optional. You can add the customer's name, job title, company, general location, and photo when you have permission to display them.

If permission is limited, use fewer details or leave the customer anonymous. Never publish a private email address, phone number, home address, account information, or confidential business information in these fields.

For a customer photo, use an authorized JPG, PNG, or WebP image. A square image usually displays best.

4. Identify where the testimonial came from

Choose the source that accurately describes how you received the feedback:

  • directly from the customer;
  • email;
  • Google;
  • Yelp;
  • Facebook;
  • Trustpilot;
  • Tripadvisor;
  • LinkedIn;
  • a letter or document; or
  • another named source.

Add the original date when it is known. For testimonials from supported external platforms, Openleet requires the original source URL. Use a direct link to the specific review when one is available, rather than a general link to the platform's home page.

If you choose Other, give the source a clear name. The optional external review ID is intended for accurate record matching; visitors generally need the source name and original link more than an internal identifier.

A source link helps visitors understand the testimonial's origin, but it does not mean Openleet independently verified the review or endorses its claims.

5. Separate public media from private proof

The form supports two different kinds of attachments:

  • Public testimonial image: one customer or project image that may be displayed with the testimonial. It accepts JPG, PNG, or WebP files up to 8 MB.
  • Private supporting proof: one screenshot, image, letter, or PDF stored for dashboard reference. It accepts supported image files or PDF files up to 12 MB and is not shown publicly.

Private proof can help you retain the context of an email, letter, or permission record. It is not a substitute for obtaining permission, and you should not upload unnecessary sensitive information. Redact unrelated personal details before uploading a proof file.

6. Choose the status

New testimonials begin as Draft, which gives you time to check the wording, source, and permissions before making them public.

  • Draft keeps an unfinished testimonial private.
  • Published makes it eligible to appear on public Openleet surfaces.
  • Unpublished removes a previously published item from public display without deleting it.
  • Archived keeps an older record out of active use.

Publishing a testimonial does not guarantee that every visitor or external service will see it.

Use Display position to control the order. Lower numbers appear first.

Use Featured testimonial for a small number of especially representative customer experiences. Featured items are placed before ordinary published testimonials. Choose testimonials that are specific, current, accurately sourced, and relevant to the services you provide today.

Avoid featuring every testimonial; doing so removes the distinction and makes ordering harder to understand.

8. Save and review the result

Select Create testimonial or Save changes, then review the item in the testimonials library. If it is published, inspect the public presentation as well.

    Where published testimonials appear

    Published testimonials can appear on a claimed Openleet business profile. Businesses using an Openleet website can also display testimonials on the website home page and on the dedicated testimonials page.

    To place Testimonials in the website navigation, open Website → Navbar and activate the testimonials menu after the feature is available. If there are no published testimonials, the dedicated page has no testimonial content to show.

    Only public attachments are included in public testimonial data. Private proof remains excluded from public testimonial queries.

    Edit, unpublish, archive, or delete a testimonial

    Return to Content → Testimonials and choose Edit. You can correct the text, customer details, source, attachments, status, order, or featured setting.

    Use Unpublished when you need to remove an item from public view while reviewing it. Use Archived for an older record you want to retain. Delete an item only when you no longer need the record, because deletion permanently removes the testimonial and its database attachment records.

    Review testimonials periodically. If permission is withdrawn, the source disappears, or the content no longer represents the business accurately, unpublish or update it promptly.
